Performance-Based Seismic Fragility and Risk Assessment of Five-Span Continuous Rigid Frame Bridges

چکیده

Earthquakes can cause serious damage to traffic infrastructures, among which the impact on bridge structure is most important. Therefore, in order assess bridges serviceability, it important master their mechanism and analyze its probability of occurrence under a given seismic action. Various uncertainties, like location epicentre future earthquakes magnitudes, make this task quite challenging. We are also required consider different earthquake scenarios damaged states components associated with those earthquakes. To suppress these difficulties, study proposed new method performance-based fragility risk assessment for bridges. The included three steps: (1) estimation five-span continuous rigid frame bridge, (2) hazard analysis locations (3) bridge. that considered performance uncertainty magnitudes provide valuable references seismic-resistant design multispan future.

Seismic fragility assessment of RC moment resisting frame buildings designed for different editions of Iranian seismic design code

Background and objective: Developing fragility and vulnerability functions are important tools in seismic reliability assessment of buildings and are widely used in regional seismic risk studies. To date sufficient studies for developing analytical fragility functions for Iranian code-conforming buildings have not been carried out. Performing such studies are necessary to assess the adequacy of...

Seismic Damage Study of Asymmetric Continuous Rigid Frame Bridge Based on Nonlinear Time History Analysis

Continuous rigid frame bridge is a common type of bridge in California, where is a seismically active areas. Main structural features of the bridge, including asymmetry, hinge structure, concretion of girder and piers affect the seismic response of the bridge significantly. In order to evaluate the safety of the bridge under earthquake, the nonlinear models of girder, limiting steels in hinge, ...

Effect of Link Slab on Seismic Response of Two Span Straight and Skew Bridges

Highway bridges are frequently constructed as simple span structures with steel or concrete girders and a cast-in-place concrete deck, spanning from one pier to another. At each end of the simple span deck, a joint is provided for deck movement due to temperature, shrinkage, and creep. Bridge deck joints are expensive and pose many problems with regard to bridge maintenance. Elimination of deck...

Analytical Fragility Curves for Multispan Continuous Steel Girder Bridges in Moderate Seismic Zones

of bridges are typically based on simplified analyses or empirical data from recent earthquakes. Since earthquake damage data are very scarce in the central and southeastern United States (CSUS), using analytical methods is the only feasible approach to obtain fragility curves. In 1990, bridges in the CSUS began incorporating seismic details. Some of the changes included the component design fo...

The Effect of Vertical Component of Earthquake on Continuous and Monolithic Frame Bridges

Performance of structures during recent earthquakes shows that the effect of vertical component of earthquake (VCE) could be considered as one of the main causes of bridges collapse. In most of bridge design codes, for seismic analysis of bridges, VCE is not taken into account or a distinguished method isn’t presented for assessment of VCE. In the present work, the effect of VCE on two existing...
